What a Certificate of Analysis (COA) Tells You
July 10, 2026 · 3 min read
A Certificate of Analysis (COA) is a lab document confirming what was actually tested in a specific batch of product, and what the results were. It is the evidence behind a "tested" claim, rather than the claim itself.
What a COA typically includes
- Identity confirmation — that the product is actually what it claims to be
- Purity results — screening for contaminants like heavy metals
- Batch or lot number — tying the results to a specific production run, not a general claim
Why "available on request" matters
Some brands publish COAs openly; others make them available if you ask. Either is a reasonable practice—what is not reasonable is a brand that cannot produce one at all when asked directly. That is generally the clearest signal of whether independent testing is actually happening, or just being implied.
Every batch of Unmade is independently tested for identity, purity, and heavy metals, with documentation available on request—reach out to our care team and we will send it over.
