Collagen and Your Current Supplement Routine: What to Consider
July 7, 2026 · 3 min read
Collagen is a food-based protein, and is generally well tolerated alongside most other supplements. That said, "generally" is not the same as "always," and we are not in a position to give you personalized medical advice from a blog post.
What we can say generally
- Collagen peptides are a protein source, not a drug, and do not carry the same interaction profile as pharmaceuticals
- It is commonly taken alongside vitamin C, which the body uses in its own collagen production process
- It has no established interaction with common daily vitamins or minerals
When to actually check with a doctor or pharmacist
- If you take prescription medication, especially anything affecting blood clotting or the immune system
- If you have a chronic health condition
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- If you have any known allergy—see our piece on marine collagen and fish allergies
None of this replaces an actual conversation with someone who knows your specific health history. We would rather point you toward that conversation than pretend a blog post can replace it.
